I am 5 months old!!

Lily is now a couple days over 5 months. I have a hard time believing it has almost been half a year since she has come into our lives. She had her 4 month appointment sometime in the middle of January and I just forgot to post her "stats." At 4 months and 2 weeks she weighed 16lbs 9oz (92nd percentile), she was 25.5 in tall (86th percentile) and her head was 17.25 inches in diameter (96th percentile). She is my big girl! I think the length measurement was a little off because she is too long for most 6month outfits she pretty much wears 6-9month outfits right now.

The past month has been a bit crazy for us. We started Lily on solids about 3 weeks ago. We started with Rice cereal. A week later we tried green beans and then this week we started sweet potatoes. She has really done so well. She loves eating off of a spoon. She is quite good at it now. She makes the funniest faces when she is eating her green beans but she still eats them (even I don't really like green beans).

I am pretty sure that there are a few teeth trying to make their way out of those gums because she is drooling and knawing on everything, not to mention the fact that her sleep patterns have been out of whack. My "sleeper" has decided to throw mommy and daddy for a loop. She is getting a little better this week, but there have been some late nights and early mornings and lots of lost sleep in between. I felt like she was a week old all over again.

I have been pretty sick this week. I got a flu-like bug and have been trying anything I can to keep Lily from getting it. So far so good. Josh isn't sick yet either which is nice. We have been putting Lily in the nursery now for about 2 months when we go to church and for the most part she is doing pretty well. After about 6:30 in the evening she starts to go downhill in terms of fussiness, she is ready for bed and until she is in it she will not be happy.

We have been having so much fun with Lily. I definitely have enjoyed each stage as we go through it but am always excited to see what's next. I hope you have enjoyed the update. Here are few pictures of Lily affectionately called "Lily Pily," "Gooby," "Goobs," "Sweet Pea."

I am a Georgia Voter (well at least mommy and daddy are)!! Super Tuesday was my 5 month birthday.
I LOVE holding onto my toes.

This was one of our "snow days" that we enjoyed in January. (looking out from our back door)
I am bundled up and ready to go, where's the snow?

FINALLY....She laughed!!!!!

Well, I just had to share. Lily has finally decided to share with the world what she thinks is funny. This past weekend Lily laughed for the first time. She has been smiling a lot since she was about 2 months old, but she finally decided to add noise to her smile. I LOVED every second of it. I will mention that she will only laugh when she wants to no matter how hard I try to entice her to laugh. Lily is also working really hard on sitting up unassisted. She is still a little wobbly, but she definitely has the "tripod" form that she will need to be steady. She has been a great stander since she was about 2 months old. She loves to stand on her legs and look around. She really only needs support for balance. The pictures below of her standing are good examples of how she loves to stand. But I promise she is not allowed to walk until she is ummmm 13 years old.

I am adding some more pictures since everyone seems to enjoy them so much.

Grammy got me this exersaucer and I am loving it....

Look at me standing unassisted (Daddy is behind me though just in case)
This is my fun toy box. It is actually an ottoman that Nana got us to hide the THOUSANDS of toys I got for Christmas.
Octotunes is one of my favorite toys (well it's actually mommy's favorite toy, she plays with it more than I do).

Happy New Year!! 2008

Well, it's 2008 already! Lily will be 4 months old in a couple of days. Christmas and New Years around our house was great. We had a really good time with friends and family. We definitely enjoyed the break with Josh home. We of course did lots of shopping and just hanging out with Lily. Josh had to start back to teaching today.....I don't think he was too excited to go back, especially with all the bonding time he got with Lily over the break. Lily is working on hard on rolling over from back to tummy. She is really close but not quite there. Her tummy to back roll though is superb! Lily now is the proud owner of LOTS of toys. Which is a good thing because she is a baby that needs TONS of stimulation. I hope you have had a wonderful New Year and Christmas. I will continue you to update you with more about Lily. Have a great January!! Check out these pictures taken during December.

Lily's first wedding. Friends of ours (Steven and Swati) got married on Dec 30th. Lily made her appearance at the reception.

Lily rolled over from tummy to back for the first time yesterday (12/11/07). She did it 4 times in a row, so it definitely wasn't a fluke. She is doing great and we are having a great time together.

Here are a few more pictures to enjoy of Lily.

A lot to be thankful for!!!

I can't believe how fast time is going. Thanksgiving was great. My parents came over and cooked everything you could possibly want for Thanksgiving. It was a small gathering, but lots of food was still eaten. Lily had her two month appointment on 11/14 (she is currently one day shy of 12 weeks old). She is a big girl..... 13lbs and 24 1/2 inches long at her appointment. So she is bigger than that now, but I don't have another appointment with the pediatrician for 2 months.

Josh had his birthday this month as well. He is now 27. He is already dreading 30 which I think is funny since it still seems off in the distance. My birthday is coming up next week and I will be a young 26. This past Saturday we went downtown to "Safehouse" which is a ministry to help the homeless in Atlanta. We served Chili, washed and massaged their feet, and just listened to their stories. It was a great experience to give back and remember to be cognizant of those less fortunate.

Lily will be getting her 3 month professional shots done on December 4th so I will make sure to post a link up here when they are available to look at. Lily is doing great. She is a lot more awake these days cooing, smiling, and learning about the world around her. She is sleeping AWESOME I must say. She goes between 7 1/2 - 9 hours straight now and then takes another nap in the morning after she eats. She is a great sleeper. She has been reaching for her toys a lot now and gets really excited when she actually touches them.

Hope you have enjoyed the update. We love the holidays and hope that you have a wonderful holiday season as well.

BIG SMILE (mom is a little shaky with the camera though)

The cold weather is officially here and boy does it beat being hot. I hope that we can get some snow this winter. It seems like it has been forever since metro Atlanta has had a lot of snow. There are a lot of kids in my neighborhood that I would love to have a snowball fight with. My neighbor's yappy dog might accidentally get snowball to the head if we get a big snowfall. We had our first halloween at our house. I wish I had kept count, but to give my best guess estimate I would say between 15 and 25 kids came by for some candy. Lily wasn't dressed up in a costume, but you can be sure that Carrie Anne put her in some orange garb.

As mentioned in a previous post, we went up to Elon for Homecoming. Lily did great for the 6 hour car ride...much better than we had anticipated. It was great seeing old friends. At the tailgating before the game, I got to see about 30 or so former teammates. Elon beat Chattanooga and took the lead of the Southern Conference. Lily of course slept through the entire game...including the cannons that went off after each of the touchdowns. On the way home we visited Becca and Brandon and their baby Isaac, who was born 2 and half weeks after Lily. You can see in a pic below that Isaac was already trying to put the moves on Lily. I had to step in before things got out of hand...if you know what I mean.
We are looking forward to our first Thanksgiving and Lily turning three months. It seems like everyday there is something new to look forward to with Lily. We hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Check out our pics below before you go...

Notice in this picture that Lily's arms are stiff and out to the side. She slept like this for more than a few minutes until I finally pushed them down.
Lily is also being trained as a boxer.

She is bored of him already!
