Strawberry Picking

On Saturday the day before Mother's Day we went strawberry picking with Josh's parents (Grammy and Grampy). It was a beautiful day and the strawberries were great. Lily and Davis had a great time with Grammy and Grampy. We went to Chick-fil-a for dinner and then went to Washington Farms to pick strawberries. It was a good Mother's Day weekend.

Davis' 1 Year Stats

Davis at 1 year

Height: 28.75''
Weight: 20lbs 14oz

Dr. Overcash (whom we love!!) said Davis looks great. He will have to have a small surgery sometime in the next couple of years. He has an umbilical hernia that did not resolve itself in the first year as was hoped. Otherwise he is developing great and his hitting all his milestones normally, including his eating (which is a huge praise).

Davis is ONE!

Davis celebrated his 1st Birthday on April 17th! I can't believe it has been a year since he was born. It was fun to reminisce about the past year but even more exciting to look towards what's ahead with Lily and Davis. Since Davis started crawling so early I was certain he would walk early too. Lily started walking at 10 1/2 months so I thought that Davis would walk even before that. 10 months came and went. 11 months came and went and when his 1st birthday arrived and he wasn't walking I was just so surprised. I knew he would walk soon but was kind of hoping that he would be walking for his birthday party since it was going to be at the Auburn city playground. No such luck, so he sat in the dirt! His party was great though. We had lots of great friends come and celebrate with us. The weather was pretty good, but it was super windy which caused a little havoc. First, one of the little tents we had got blown over and broke (it was borrowed so we knew we would need to replace it), secondly, the 25 balloons I had gotten got all tangled in the distance from the car to the tables so we just had a big clump of balloons. And lastly, the cake that I had ordered turned out not as I expected. It was a pull-apart cupcake cake that was supposed to look like 2 balloons but when I went to pick it up it was just a random cloud-like shape. So, they redid it in 15 minutes and it still looked pretty terrible. So you won't be seeing any pictures of that cake. Instead you will see pictures of the cake that I made for Davis myself (which I am proud of). Other than those 3 snafus the party was great. Here are some shots that were taken by our friend. I am so thankful that he grabbed my camera and got these shots otherwise we wouldn't have much to show for Davis' party. So, thank you Stephen and Kellie for helping at the party!!

New Playground

So we have been wanting to get Lily and Davis a playground for a while now but we just never pulled the trigger. Our neighbors across the street had started building a playground in their backyard and it got the gears turning. The next day we made a Sams Club run and sure enough the playground that our neighbors were building was there. We asked the manager how much and when he told us the price and what all it included we couldn't pass it up. So, yes, our across-the-street neighbor and us have the same playground....hope they don't mind! Josh did most of the building and luckily he was out of school for the week for Spring Break so he had some extra time on his hands. I was able to help him during nap time and bed time. In the end it took 19 hours to put together (not too bad). It looks fantastic and the kids love it. I love that we don't have to drive anywhere to go swing or slide. Just this week Josh finished waterproofing it so that it will last that much longer.

Easter Sunday @ The Vine

This year Easter was great. We have become pretty involved at The Vine (the church we have been going to since last June). Lily LOVES going to church and loves her friends in class. The do so many fun things and learn so much every week. I love it. My parents came with us to church this Easter Sunday and Lily and Davis were thrilled to have them there. It was a great service and we are excited to be a part of such a great church, making great new friends. After church and naps we had our own little egg hunt in the front yard. Lily and I had dyed a dozen eggs the day before. Easter Sunday turned out to be a lot of fun and good time with family.
